Shows

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to spread the word that we are playing this Sunday March 29th at TT The Bear’s in Cambridge Ma with Philadelphia’s The War On Drugs. I believe we take the stage around 9pm. Should be a great night of music all around.

We’re still plugging away at our Sophomore release “Wreckage” which should be available this fall. Stay tunned!

It’s been a little while since we’ve played as we’ve been focusing on recording for the past couple of months. This is why we are so excited to be playing this Saturday night at The Plough and Stars. It’s a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society so please do try and make it if you can.

Hope to see you all there.

Hey Boston Tsui fans, please come out on Thursday for a great show with us and our friends JP05 at The Abbey Lounge. It’s been a while since we’ve play in Boston. As some of you may know, it has been my home for the past 6 months. Andy Santospago will be joining us once again on guitar.

Speaking of Andy, his debut solo record is getting all sorts of acclaim and is really amazing. You can check out a couple of the songs or download a copy on his website andysantospago.com.

It has indeed been a while, in this long cold winter, since we have spoken. Firstly, I would like to post some upcoming shows:

01.26.08 – Pete’s Candy Store, Brooklyn NY — 9pm.
02.21.08 – The Abbey Lounge, Cambridge, MA w/ JP05

Secondly, I would like to announce that Jeremy Thompson and Jen Chouinard have joined Tsui. Jeremy is a life long friend who I played with in a band many years ago, and is a very solid and creative drummer. He also brings his melodica skills and quick wit to the band. Jen, who is also a highly skilled drummer, has moved over to the bass guitar. She also could serve as the back up drummer in case Jeremy decides to commit fully to keyed wind instruments.

I would also like to mention that the late Jr. Corduroy will be releasing a record of previously recorded and unreleased material this spring a called, Studies For a Film. There are no plans to reunite, just to make available 11 songs that were excluded from the two records we made. It has been a very nice experience mixing these songs and hearing them once again. I hope you will feel the same way.

Things are going slow but steady with the new Tsui record. I am hoping to have some rough mixes up this spring as well.

Hey all, it’s been a little while. Things are going well with the new record, I have about ten songs and counting. I’m setting up a little studio in my apartment to do some initial tracking and hoping things go well from there. I keep thinking about different sounds for the record. I’m really into Brain Eno’s ‘Here Come the Warm Jets’ and Nico’s ‘Chelsea Girls’ right now. Somehow mixing the warmth of the guitars on the later with all the interesting sounds and moog parts from the former. I will try to get some stuff up online as soon as I have something worth sharing.

In other news, I will be playing at The Living Room in New York on Friday November 2nd at 9 pm. I will be joined by Jeff Patlingrao on the guitar. Please try and make it out, it’s a really great venue for us. The sound is really great there as well.

Here is a great little review in Reveille Magazine

More to come…

Tsui will be playing our favorite Williamsburg bar on Friday July 13th at Pete’s Candy Store at 10pm. Please try and make it if you can. Charles Michelet will be banging on the drums and I will be playing a couple new songs that I have been working on lately. I’m hoping to start recording some demos this summer which will–if all goes well–lead to a new record sometime next year.
In other news, ‘Dead Letters’ was recently featured on AOL’s music blog Spinner.com. We have also been getting a good amount of airplay throughout the country which is great news for a little band that had next to no promotion. I am still working on a tour at some point soon and the video for Metal Birds is almost completed. I promise to update the site more with more exciting things in the future. Until then…
